There can be no doubt that there has been an improvement in business and consumer confidence since the formation of the Government of National Unity (GNU) in June. The question that has persisted until recently is whether the increased confidence, is leading to an improvement in economic activity.
It would be dangerous to conclude that there has been a meaningful upswing in economic activity based purely on improved confidence, however, one has to welcome the ongoing attempts by the GNU to address structural impediments to economic growth and to improve corporate governance more generally.
