Even though the immediate inflationary impact of recent fuel price increases is dramatic, it has come to our notice that, for purely statistical reasons linked to fuel price changes a year ago, the actual base from which inflation is likely to increase in coming months, is much lower, at 3.1% for February, compared with the most recent published inflation figure for January, of 3.5%.
