What happened?
The South African trade balance moved back into a surplus of +R20.9bn in February after January saw the first trade deficit since January 2024 (-R16.8bn, revised).

The notable improvement in the trade balance was due to a +10.4% m/m increase in exports and a -13.5% m/m decrease in imports.
