South Africa’s economy continues to stagnate, with GDP growth slowing for a third consecutive year. Since economic growth remains below population growth, the average South African’s standard of living is declining. The lack of investment in infrastructure and production is limiting job creation, increasing dependence on government grants, and placing a heavy tax burden on a shrinking base of income earners. If economic growth remains weak, South Africa risks further instability and declining living standards.
